Lehner has looked strong. I like his potential and hope with some more real game time, he gets even better. The only thing I notice is that sometimes he hits the deck to make a save, but in doing so loses sight on the puck (his head is often swiveling back and forth like he's lost or he spins around often). other than that, his play looks promising in the small sample size thus far.

I wish Irbe would have stayed to help with his game as well. He made everyone last year look pretty solid in net and would have liked to have seen what he could have done to improve both Lehner and Ullmark's game as well

This team is definitely headed in the right direction. Another top pick and a strong free agency and next year should be strong. Top 5 in east?

Good question. How much different would it be with someone else in there ? Same can be said for our GMTM. Some are never happy and think they have all the answers. Yet don't know crap on the real scale of what they do.

Probably the lockouts even though they've made the game better

Totally agree.

Maybe people blame him for lockouts? He works for the owners and negotiates collective bargaining on their behalf.

Maybe people blame him for the quality of the game? I honestly don't know what he would have to do with that.

I guess. But player salaries continue to go up, so you're right, it is better for them.

Let's not get crazy. They'll be in the playoff race next year.

Part of it i think is because he's not a "hockey guy" he's a lawyer who's experience comes from basketball. But yeah, he works for the owners and is obviously doing a good job for them.

Some people lost jobs and a ton of business was lost during those lockouts... Now Idk if you can put all the blame on him or not but I can see why people do.

I can see that as being a reason.

But it is still the owners who are responsible. I think that is why his salary is so high. Because he takes the blame for being the bad guy.

Nice write up Michael. I have been watching a lot of ND hockey games the last couple years and I think Cal Petersen has the chance to be something special. I spent 4 years in South Bend going to lots of hockey games, he has been my favorite player to watch. ND wasn't expected to be that great this year but he has carried them in a lot of games.

I'm looking for a green light.

Wife got all liquored up at a party last night, but when we got home, I made a quick sandwich while she went upstairs. When I got up there, she was passed out.

I think Jonas Johansson will be the goalie 3-4 years down the road, he is the guy Murray drafted

If you're from Canada, you're mad at him about Quebec.

If you're from Buffalo, you're mad at him for Brett Hull.

If you're from planet Earth, you kind of want to punch him every time he talks.

Other than that, he's ok.
